Kim Myhr/Lasse Marhaug

Myhr Marhaug

In recent years, Kim Myhr has been one of the leading voices on the experimental scene in Norway as both a composer and a guitarist. In March 2014, he released the critically acclaimed solo record «All your limbs singing; an orchestral exploration of the 12-string guitar sounding like something in between American folk strumming and 60s avant-garde soundness orchestral music. The WIRE called it «a delirious love letter to the 12-string guitar». In 2016 he released BLOOM, taking the music in a new, and more electronic direction. MOJO gave it four stars and called it "a trance state between the acoustic and the electronic, where an alchemical late-hours lyricism is born». Myhr is an active composer, and writes for chamber ensembles, electroacoustic settings and various theatrical projects. Earlier in 2016 he released «In The End His Voice Will Be The Sound of Paper» - a collaborative album with Jenny Hval and Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. He is also a member of MURAL (with Ingar Zach and Jim Denley) and Circadia (alongside David Stackenäs, Joe Williamson and Tony Buck). Kim has done collaborations with Sidsel Endresen, Lasse Marhaug, Sofia Jernberg, Sebastien Roux and Kjell Bjørgeengen to mention just a few.

Lasse Marhaug (b. 1974) has since the early 1990s been one of the most active artists in the Norwegian noise/experimental music scene. As a performer and composer he has contributed to well over 300 CD, vinyl and cassette releases over the years, as well as extensive touring and performing live on all continents of the world. In addition to his solo work, Marhaug has collaborated with several artists in the fields of noise, experimental, improv, jazz, rock and extreme metal, as well as working with music and sound for theatre, dance, installations, film and video. In the mid-90s Marhaug started TWR Tapes (still going) and Jazzassin Records (ended 2001). In the 2000s he started the record labels Pica Disk and Prisma Records. In 2011 he started his own print publishing called Marhaug Forlag. He has also been active as an organizer, promoter and producer. Marhaug believes aliens from outer space are watching his every move.
