No Spaghetti Edition is an improvisation ensemble with different line-ups for
each project. This presentation includes ten of the most active Norwegian improvisers,
the German trumpet player Axel Dörner and the English keyboard player Pat Thomas.
The result is eight spontaneously and instantaneously composed pieces of electro-acoustic
hard-core music.

Nilssen-Love is one of the most active and most respected drummers in Norway
today. In the latest years he has done some remarkable work with musicians such
as Frode Gjerstad, Mats Gustafsson, Ken Vandermark, Jeb Bishop and Sten Sandell.
After heaving played several solo concerts over last years he has now recorded
his first solo CD for SOFA.
«sticks & stones» shows Nilssen-Loves dynamic and highly personal
style using different drumkits and percussion.

Sten
Sandell Trio — «standing wave» [SOFA 504] will be
released during the trios tour in Sweden and Norway this week and the next.
The trio plays in Västerås - Sweden (May 3), Glenn Miller Café,
Stockholm - Sweden (May 5), Maijazz, Stavanger - Noway (May 11), Blå,
Oslo - Norway (May 12).
April 5. 2001 — the cd «standing wave» with Sten Sandell Trio is soon out

will soon release the cd «standing wave» with Swedish/Norwegian
trio Sten Sandell Trio (Sten Sandell – piano, Johan Berthling – bass,
Paal Nilssen-Love – drums and percussion). Here's an excerpt from the liner
notes written by Mats Gustafsson: «With the enormous amount of improvised
music put out today, there is not much that sticks out, but this trio stands
for the values of music which I believe in above all. For me, This is great!!!»
February 22. 2001 — SOFA releases Derek Bailey/Ingar Zach — «llaer»
SOFA
proudly presents Derek Bailey/Ingar Zach —
«llaer» [SOFA 503]. The music on the cd is a live recording
from a concert at the jazzclub Blå in Oslo 20th of October 2000. This
evening at Blå was one of those magical moments of improvisation where
everything was right; the music, the venue, the audience and the atmosphere
all melted together in a great concert experience.
January 22. 2001 — «Triangular Screen»-trio going on tour
The trio from the SOFA-CD Triangular screen, Tony Oxley/Ivar Grydeland/Tonny Kluften are going on a short tour in Scandinavia in February. On February 12th they are playing in Malmö, Sweden, at Jazz i Malmö. February 13th they are playing in Västerås, Sweden, at Culturen – Nya perspektiv. On February 14th they are playing in Oslo, Norway, at Blå.

January 10. 2001 — SOFA announces solo-album with Paal Nilsen-Love
SOFA is excited to announce that a solo-album with the Norwegian drummer Paal Nilssen-Love will be recorded in Sofienberg Church, Oslo, January/February 2001. The album will be released March 23rd.
January 5. 2001 — NORCD celebrates 10 years
The Norwegian recordcompany NORCD (which SOFA is a part of) is celebrating their 10th year anniversary January 18th and 19th at Blå in Oslo. The owners of NORCD and SOFA, Karl Seglem, Ingar Zach and Ivar Grydeland will play one set on the 18th, and the drummer Paal Nilssen-Love will play a solo-set on the 19th. NRK – the Norwegian Broadcasting Company are recording the event on Thursday the 18th.

November 9. 2000 — Upcoming albums
SOFA announced two new releases today. Sten Sandell Trio with Sten Sandell (piano), Johan Berthling (bass) and Paal Nilssen-Love (drums) is one of the upcoming albums and is to be released spring 2001.
The second release is a 13 piece Norwegian improvising ensemble called No Spaghetti Edition featuring Pat Thomas (Keyborads/electronics) and Axel Dörner (trumpet). To be released summer 2001.
