Petter Vågan
Petter Vågan (b.1982) is a versatile and ever-searching guitarist based in
Trondheim. He has an expressive style rooted somewhere between jazz, freejazz, rock, freeimprov and electronic music, and utilizes an array of effects in a delicate manner to mangle and distort reality in his own way. He also uses prepared guitars and unorthodox methods to bring forth new sounds from the guitar.
In addition to have toured extensively all over Norway, Sweden, Russia, USA, Canada, Germany and the Netherlands, he’s cooperated with many of the most exciting musicians in Norway and has drawn notice to himself through records with Peloton, PETTER O HANNA, Trondheim Jazzorchestra and Eyewaterlillies.
He’s got a master degree in performing from the renowned jazz course with the Conservatory of Music in Trondheim, where he immersed himself in electroacoustic free-improvisation.
Petter Vågan has played with musicians like Christian Wallumrød, Django Bates, Ståle Storløkken, Mathias Eick, Håvard Wiik, Håkon Kornstad, Eirik Hegdal, Ola Kvernberg, Mathias Ståhl, Tore Brunborg, Håkon Mjåset Johansen, Ole Morten Vågan, Thomas Strønen, Jonas Kullhammar, Mats Eilertsen, Lene Grenager, Helge Norbakken, Vidar Johansen, Kirsti Huke, Tor Haugerud, Anita Kaasbøl, Eivind Lønning, Hanna Gjermundrød, Espen Reinertsen, Øyvind Brandtsegg, Daniel Buner Formo, Ingrid Lode, Sissel Vera Pettersen, Øystein Moen, Kjetil Møster, Erik Nylander, Atle Nymo, Steinar Nickelsen, Kenneth Kapstad, Stian Westerhus, Gard Nilssen, Rune Nergaard etc
