Rhodri Davies

Rhodri Davies (b. 1971) challenges traditional romantic concepts of the harp through use of preparations, micro tuning and bowed strings.

Davies works in the field of new, experimental and improvised music. He explores noise, live electronics, silence, texture and abstract sound.

He has performed in America, Canada and Europe and has had numerous appearances on radio and television. As well as solo playing, Davies works closely in duos with John Butcher and Mark Wastell. He has also performed with groups that are solely dedicated to free improvisation - a quartet with John Butcher, Matt Hutchinson and Oren Marshall, Derek Bailey’s Cavanoconnor (in Marseilles), Evan Parker's string project and a group that connects young London and Berlin musicians: Sowari Quartet with Burkhard Beins/Phil Durrant/Michael Renkel.

Rhodri appears on the following SOFA-releases
