MURAL, formed in 2007, are two Norwegians and an Australian - Jim Denley (alto sax, flute), Kim Myhr (acoustic guitars, preparations) and Ingar Zach (gran cassa, percussion). Their debut release is a quietly outstanding piece of Improv, a haunting world of breathtaking timbral beauty. Sound events unfold at a leisurely pace, for instance on «Monolith of the Chaotic Pledge», where Myhr's guitar and Zach's tuned percussion are the centre of attention. «Flash Expansion» is an extraordinary creation, which begins with a typically eerie guitar riff from Myhr as backdrop to Zach's bowed cymbal and bass drum. The group's highly sensous sounds were superbly recorded in a small country church near Molde.
