JO DAVID MEYER LYSNE
Jo David Meyer Lysne (b. 1994) is a composer and guitarist based in Gvarv, Norway. He has released a number of albums under his own name: Kroksjø (Hubro, 2020), Meander (Øra Fonogram, 2017), and Henger i Luften (Hubro, 2019). He has also written a number of of commissioned works for ensembles, performers, and festivals based in Norway: "for renstemt klaver" (2024), "for messing og cello" (2024) for cellist Amalie Stalheim, "Larm" for the contemporary ensemble Aksiom (Periferien 2023), "NiTi" (2023) for Vilde&Inga at Borealis, "Mirroring" (2022) for pianist Sanae Yoshida, "Syrinx" (2022), for Podium Festival, and "Smeltende stemme" (2022), for OnlyConnect. His music has received praise in the New York Times and The Wire, among other publications. Lysne studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music as a composition student of Eivind Buene, where he also performed rhythmic music with Ivar Grydeland, Mats Eilertsen, and Sidsel Endresen.
PEDER SIMONSEN
Peder Simonsen (b. 1987) is a tubist, composer, and producer from Oslo, Norway. He is one third of Microtub, the world’s only microtonal tuba trio, with fellow tubists Martin Taxt and Robin Hayward. With Microtub and other ensembles, he has performed with Catherine Lamb, Ellen Arkbro, Bendik Giske, Weston Olencki, Mattie Barbier, appeared on numerous albums, and toured Europe, Asia, and the Americas. As a composer, Simonsen has produced works and sound installations in collaboration with Microtub, composer and guitarist Jo David Meyer Lysne, and composer Lene Ørnen Baadsvig. Simonsen also works with modular synths and as a programmer and recording engineer. He undertook musical studies at NTNU, UDK Berlin, and Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Along with his family, Simonsen co-runs the Piemonte, Italy-based artist residency Palazzo Stabile.
